Welcome!
The Western Maine Art Group (WMAG) was founded in 1962 by Hungarian fine arts Professor Lajos Matolcsy (1905-1982) of the Royal Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts with his wife modern dancer Claire Couri, and students -- Lee Bean, Ellie Viles, Anne Beyer, and Helen Morton. The WMAG was formed to provide artists opportunities to learn and exhibit as well as to provide public access to art.

For decades the WMAG has continuously served to elevate artists of all ages and representation through exhibition, teaching and learning, and community collaborative events like the Norway Arts Festival and regular exhibits in the Norway Savings Bank Operations Center Main Street Norway window display. It continues to endure the tests of time relying on the vision, spirit and of passionate volunteer board members and member volunteers.

WMAG events are open to the public. The group also provides membership for artists to exhibit, network, teach learn, and sell their work.
